CURWENSVILLE - Curwensville's defense limited Elk County Catholic to 147 yards on total offense including 65 yards rushing to lead the Golden Tide to a 21-0 win in an AML South game Friday night at Curwensville.
Curwensville (2-0 overall., 2-0 AML South) built a 14-0 halftime lead and then added a late touchdown to seal the win.
A 33-yard pass from Travis McDonald to Greg Gilbert gave the Golden Tide a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Nate Sipe's 5-yard scoring run and a McDonald to Brooks Collins two-point pass put Curwensville up by 14 at halftime.
Collins added a 2-yard scoring run with 3:06 left to play.
Curwensville used a balanced attack to get the win.
Doug Swatsworth and Sipes led the ground game each picking up 49 yards, while Collins rushed for 37 yards.
McDonald was 3-for-7 passing for 78 yards and a score, while Gilbert had two catches for 66 yards.
Ted Cherry led ECC's ground game with 12 carries for 40 yards, while Bob Pearsall was 7-for-20 passing for 82 yards while throwing three interceptions. Matt Eckert caught three passes for 42 yards.
